Ceramic inkstone, calligraphy inkstone, round inkstone, 5 inkstone
Fine clay with a matte white glaze. There are flecks of copper glaze, but it seems to have been fired in a reducing flame, giving it a reddish color. The brown areas are thinly coated with iron glaze, giving it the flavor of a period piece. On the back is a resin foot to prevent rattling. The same thin layer of iron has been applied, showing the workmanship of Kyoto.
I have not used it yet because I think it will not be able to remove the sumi ink if I use it. I am sorry that I cannot explain how it feels to polish, but even though it is made of fine clay, the friction of a ceramic inkstone is so great that the ink may fall off too quickly in the beginning.
If the inkstone is too slippery and the ink does not become thicker, you should ask a specialist to make the inkstone brighter, or you can try washing it with a cleanser.
