Description
This is a beautiful antique Acoma Pueblo pottery olla. It is hand-made from clay collected in traditional places, hand built, the design painted on with a yucca leaf and colored clay slips, and then fired in an open-pit firing process. The aging is gorgeous - wonderful patina. This Acoma pot is striking -- lovely designs, black/brown on white background. The top of the rim has impressions painted with orange slip. The walls are thick. The base is indented and also painted orange. Please see the photos to understand how great this Acoma pottery olla is and the condition it is in - no cracks or repairs. This is a distinguishable piece for a collection representing rich Acoma cultural history and very skilled pottery artistry. Measures 6.5 X 9.5".
