A Large Hand Crafted Cochiti Polychrome Pueblo Pottery Bird Pitcher Created from Native Clay and Mineral Paint
Circa 1875 - 1895
Condition: Very Good: There are four small chips. There is one chip on both sides of the bowl, and a very small chip in the spout (the mouth of the bird) and a tiny gouge on the right wing. The pitcher has a rustic 19

century patina and some wear.

Cochiti Pueblo is in Central New Mexico just south of Santa Fe.
This item was purchased from Butterfield & Butterfield Auctions  when it was located in San Francisco, California. The item was part of an important Santa Fe, New Mexico dealer’s estate that was sold at auction in the 1990s. It has been in my collection since that time.
