domestic shipping. We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
Here's some of those things about Hoppe's Gun Oil that we found in our research ... Frank A. (August) Hoppe was born in Pittsburg Pa., in 1875. Early on he developed an interest in chemistry, target shooting, and hunting. He studied chemistry in school, and pursued a career in that field upon graduation. He also was a pioneer member of the National Rifle Association. During the early years of the twentieth century, smokeless gun powder began to replace the old black powder; and ammunition was extremely corrosive and the cleaning of a firearm was a long, tedious task. Frank Hoppe began to explore combinations of chemicals to simplify the dirty job of cleaning rifle bores. His aim was to develop a product that would remove all primer, powder, lead and metal fouling from the rifle bore; while at the same time protecting it from rust. His experiments eventually led him to perfect the combination of nine chemicals that came to be known as Hoppe's Nitro Powder Solvent No. 9; the "Number 9" representing the 9 chemicals. In the beginning, Frank began to manufacture the No. 9 in a shed behind his home. This led up to the creation of Hoppe Co. that produced the Hoppe's No. 9 and the company was founded in 1903 by Frank August Hoppe. By the time of his death in 1921, the Hoppe name had become known worldwide. Today it is still a top seller in the market of gun oils and cleaners. I use Hoppe # 9 myself late every fall, and the distinct aroma of old No 9 still takes be back to hunting camp and sitting around telling stores of what is now history.
