We are excited to offer this important piece of Military and Aviation history from the Estate of Chester 'Chet' Zielke. Chet's career began at Stearman aircraft and later Boeing in the late 1930's where he became one of the primary engineers on the B-29 before entering WW2. Following the war Chester worked as one of the Chief Engineers on both the B-47 and B-52 development programs.
Offered in this listing is one of the earliest and most comprehensive B-52 manuals I have ever seen. The listing consists of the original B-52 training manual compiled by Boeing and issued in December 1953 as a restricted copy only for DOD personnel. This was issued during the B-52's important initial testing phase in the early 50's. The second manual pictured comprises all of the updates revisions and additions issued between Dec. 1953 and April of 1954. Because Mr. Zielke recognized the importance of this document, he did not remove sections as revisions were issued, but instead maintained the original Dec. '53 restricted manual intact and compiled a second manual with all of the updates, revisions and additions. This is probably the only opportunity you will have to purchase such a complete historical piece associated with the testing and development of such an important aircraft. The total thickness of both manuals combined is over 7 and 1/2 inches thick. Condition is extraordinary with no writing or damage to note. Both have been maintained unbound, 3 hole punched with original front and back covers. Don't miss the chance to add this lot to your collection.
