what is known as a Gohonzon Buddhist scroll used in worship in various Nichiren Buddhist Sects. All the Nichiren sects of this Buddhism venerate the founder 13th century priest known as Nichiren Daishonin (Nichiren Shonin in some sects).
They focus their prayers towards the scroll and chant the words Nam Myoho Renge Kyo (some sects say Namu followed by Myoho Renge Kyo).
The approx size including the case is: 1.10 X 2.0 inches.
This scroll is the miniature version of the Gohonzon known as OMAMORI or TALISMAN used by practitioners of the Hokkeko and formally BUT NO LONGER, The SGI (Soka Gakkai International).  This is the Gohonzon version transcribed by Nittatsu Shonin, the 66th High Priest of Nichiren Shoshu.
It is in the original issue genuine silver case.
The Omamori is in Excellent condition with the normal tarnish on the silver case......the are no dents in the case......it opens and closes normal......chain intact......most important the Gohonzon is intact and secure in it's plastic seal and snuggly fitted into the silver casing (SEE SCANS).   A beautiful Omamori in original case!!!
Our understanding and research shows that these Omamori Talisman Gohonzon's are only given out to long time practicing members of the Buddhist Order. Also our understanding is that these are not easily obtainable outside of the Hokkeko. The only way to get one is to become a member of the Hokkeko or try and find them through a seller on the internet like here on eBay. Even then it is almost impossible for the seller to find one.
In actuality THEY ARE NO LONGER EVEN OFFERED or even AVAILABLE within The Hokkeko. They are very scarce and EXTREMELY rare!!!
YOU WILL ALMOST NEVER FIND THESE HERE ON EBAY. EVERY SO OFTEN WE FIND THESE AT AN AUCTION HOUSE IN JAPAN. MOST OF THE TIME, THE CASES ARE IN BAD SHAPE WITH DENTS, FRONT COVER COMING OFF, ETC.
THIS IS ABOUT THE 8th NITTATSU OMAMORI IN ORIGINAL ISSUE CASE WE HAVE FOUND IN EXCELLENT CONDTION.
