Description

Gorgeous set of 12 Persian silver teacups with glass liners. Also, a sugar bowl. All have a soldier motif marching around the outside.
Some are marked on the handles, though the marks aren’t terribly legible as the surface is limited. The best marks are on the sugar bowl, which has the lion with sword mark denoting silver made between 1967-79. There is a mark in Farsi, which I think is a maker’s mark. A town mark. And the number 84, so I assume these are 84/100 silver.
The cups are 4 ¼” handle to opposite rim, 3 ½” wide, and 2 3/8” tall.
The sugar bowl is 6” handle to handle, 4 ½” wide, 2 3/8” tall.
Total silver weight is 1187 grams or 38.1 troy ounces.
One of the glass liners has a little chip in the rim, see the photos.
These are handmade. You can see the centering punch in the sugar bowl from where it was raised.
These came from a family who had connections with the Ayatolla, who apparently gave away pieces of his personal silver collection to people who helped him in exile.
