    Description

    This is a small Pueblo micaceous clay pottery red painted bowl with fire clouds, circa 1870 to 1920s, or so. Bowl is 5 1/4" in diameter and 2 5/8" high, and it is in excellent original condition with a great patina from age and use. It is overall red painted on the outside and unpainted on the inside, and the use of the micaceous clay would indicate an origin from either the Taos or Picuris Pueblos of northern New Mexico. The bowl has no damage and no repair, and it shows polish on the inside from usage. This type of plainware pottery was most likely made for use in the Pueblo rather than sale to tourists.
