    Rare set of WWII 1942
Service & Instructions Manuals for the
    Consolidated B-24D Liberator Bomber
Set of 8 Manuals in a
    Leather Zippered Storage Case (#3914)
Prepared in 1942 by the Flight and Service Department of Consolidated Aircraft Corporation, San Diego, California
This is a wonderfully preserved collection of original hard cover manuals detailing the armament on the B24D aircraft.
This set of manuals is rarely found together, particularly with the case.
These hardcovered original manuals are in excellent condition especially considering they are nearly 80 years old.  They support no wear, the bindings are mostly tight, there is no writing on any of the pages, and none of the pages are torn or stained.  The hardcovers of the different volumes are largely flat however some support very slight curvatures.  The Electricity manual cover has the greatest curvature of it’s hardcover as shown in the images.
Along with the more well-known B-17, the B-24 was among the most ubiquitous of World War II bombers. Produced by the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation (and later also by Ford Motor Company), the B-24’s superior speed, range and bomb load over the B-17 were offset by a reputation for difficult handling and a greater tendency to catch fire in battle. The B-24 remains to this day the most produced heavy bomber in American history, with over 18,400 planes produced in the various models.
This set includes eight (8) separate manuals: Airplane General, Electricity, Power Plant, Armament, Hydraulics, Radio, Flight Manual and a paperback Emergency Procedures manual, all
    copiously illustrated,
including many photographs, drawings, schematics and mechanical illustrations. They are
housed together in their original leather locking carrying case.
Some of the manuals are designated as “restricted” with the following caution…
    “Restricted
This document contains information affecting the national defense of the United States within the meaning of the Espionage Act, U. S. C. 50:31 and 32.  Its transmission or the revelation of its contents in any manner to any unauthorized person is prohibited by law.”
